Chiitoi quick thoughts

08/06/2025

Didn't realize that it has been five days since my last post update. Writing something every day has been getting harder when it's approaching the beginning of the semester. Lab work has been pretty busy because moving and the new student orientation (plus I'm the only working student so... orz)

Yesterday, East coast Saikouisen pro did a paifu review and we specifically talked about one hand that is me going seven pairs.

People who watch my stream or read my writing before will know that I'm a big seven pair lover: I always seek the path to seven pairs especially when there's yakuhai dora, or when I'm starting with unpleasant haipai. For me, an unpleasant haipai either has terminal tiles, or a consecutive suji group, e.g. 147s89m, etc... and these tiles are either good seven pair material, or set up great suji trap if we happens to get to tenpai. Terminal tiles are also relatively easier to infer if they are in the wall or in opponents' hand. If done correctly, the discarding order can also bluff and make people have a wrong impression of your hand and confuse them, leading to a deal in.

Specific cases shall be discussed with real examples, which I don't have the time to pull up and talk about today.
